The figure below represents the overall state of data assembly. The summaries provide detailed information for each data stream.
Many of the datasets on the WOCE Global Data Resource Version 3.0 are presented in netCDF format. For some data streams this was the only format distributed. For others, an ASCII format is available. The format will be familiar to many, but for those not well acquainted with it, Nathan Bindoff, Chairman of the Data Processing Committee (DPC), has provided a guide to the format. Additionally, under Software/Resources-netCDF you will find links to sites providing netCDF software (source and run-time). The WOCE Data Products Committee (DPC) envisaged that their recommendation to adopt netCDF would allow a much easier approach to the synthesis of all the WOCE data. |
