The following images were prepared by Robert L. Molinari and John F. Festa of AOML in support of the WOCE South Atlantic Workshop.
The first series of presentations show the data availability on a 2 degrees of latitude by 2 degrees of longitude grid as months with data within five year bins (i.e. a maximum of 60 months). Grid points with data are marked by dots. A machine software package was used to contour the data distribution, thus contours appear in regions with no data. The contour interval is uneven; 5 data points, 10 data points, 20 data points, 30 data points, etc. Regions with greater than 20 data points are shaded.
The second series of presentations shows bimonthly temperature distributions at the sea surface, 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, and 500m. Grid points with available data are marked by dots. The entire field is contoured by a machine software package, thus contours appear in regions with no data.

The third series of presentations show the percent variance accounted for by the annual harmonic of the bimonthly time-series available on the 2 degrees of latitude by 2 degrees of longitude grid for the sea surface, 100m, and 200m. The entire field is contoured by a machine software package, thus contours appear in data-void areas.
The fourth series of presentations show the amplitude and phase of the annual harmonic. These are given as arrows with lengths proportional to the amplitude of this harmonic and direction proportional to the phase. Inset arrows provide the scale and have a length of 2C and phase in months indicated as 1 = 1 January, 4 = 1 April, etc. Arrows are only given for those grid points with more than 3 bimonthly values of data.
